Oksana P. Trofimova

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Leading researcher at the Department of Radiotherapy, radiotherapist, N. N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology, Professor of the Department of Oncology and Palliative Medicine Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education, Moscow, Russian Federation.

Specialization

Proficient in all modern methods of radiation treatment of tumors of various localizations and methods of modern radiomodification.

Area of scientific interests

Treatment of patients with breast cancer at all stages, hematologic oncology, melanoma, and ocular neoplasms.

Professor Trofimova is a participant in the scientific protocols for the treatment of patients with Hodgkin's Lymphoma Moscow-1, 2, and 3, as well as protocols for the treatment of patients with primary mediastinal lymphomas and multiple myeloma.

In 2007, with Professor Trofimova's direct involvement, a technology for total-body photon irradiation, unique in Russia, was developed and implemented in the radiology department. This technique is used in the treatment of hematological malignancies as part of the preparation for bone marrow transplantation.

In 2009, Professor Trofimova developed and implemented into the daily practice of the radiology department a method for accelerated partial irradiation of patients with early stages of breast cancer after organ-preserving surgery (the method is protected by a patent for the invention).

In 2012, Professor Trofimova introduced a new method of delivering radiation therapy in the optimal breathing phase (holding it during a deep inhalation) to patients with left-sided breast cancer and lymphoproliferative diseases involving the mediastinal lymph nodes. This significantly reduces the radiation dose to the heart and the risk of cardiovascular damage.

Professor Trofimova's significant contribution to the development of continuing medical education for Russian oncologists and radiation therapists is noteworthy, as is her participation in the training of clinical residents, postgraduate students, and radiation therapists from radiology centers in Russia and the CIS. She is a regular speaker at prestigious oncology and radiology scientific forums in Russia and abroad. She has received the "Excellent Healthcare Worker" award from the Russian Ministry of Health and Social Development.
